Date:Thu, 19 September 2013 to Sun, 22 September 2013

Venue: Comeragh Mountains Region, Dungarvan, Ballymacarbry Kilrossanty Kilmacthomas Rathgormack Bunmahon Copper Coast Dungarvan, Co. Waterford

This will be a three day festival event, with an emphasis on adventure, arts and the community.  Guided walks, linking with heritage; adventure trails and “paths of our parents” – reliving the past through walks and enactments will be strong features of our Gathering. There will be academic and educational elements to our Gathering, including the hosting of a seminar in conjunction with WIT. A celebration of Arts and Culture will centre on storytelling and film based around nature and adventure.  Evening animation in local pubs as well as music, plays and poetry in various venues across the Comeraghs blending international, national and local talent.

The Comeraghs Wild Gathering will highlight the natural beauty, diversity and heritage of the area to visitors from abroad with walks, talks etc. The event will celebrate the past and present through the local communities and Diaspora.  This festival will link the heritage of the Comeraghs – including song, storytelling – to Newfoundland and Wales, in particular.

Many emigrants from the Comeraghs went to Worcester in the USA. This Festival will be promoted to the Diaspora in this area.  It is intended that this initial Gathering will be sustained into 2014 and beyond. There are already strong links between
this area and areas overseas and this festival will invigorate and strengthen these links.
